What is hobbyswap.org? |
Hobbyswap.org is an online service which helps connect people who like learning, teaching, and want to share their hobbies with others.
How's it work? You find people who can teach you want you want to know whom you can teach something in return, and you swap lessons.
You can learn and teach just about anything on hobbyswap.org. Have you wanted to find a practice partner for learning Spanish, or Do you want to improve your English? It's a great place to find language swaps and practice partners. Have you wanted to learn how to surf, sail, knit, play guitar? Find someone who will teach you on hobbyswap. You just might have to teach them something in return.
How do I find teachers or swaps? |
First you have to add hobbies. Add hobbies that you want to learn, teach, or find activity partners for. Next, you have to add networks to be able to find teachers and swaps. You can only connect with people in your networks.
Right now you can only add public and restricted networks. Private networks are coming soon.
How do I add hobbies? |
Login to your account and click on "edit your hobbies" or go to "Hobbies" in the side menu. Then click on "add a new hobby to learn" or "add a new hobby to teach" or "add a new hobby for activity partners". Type in the hobby name, write a blurb about the hobby, and click "Add New Hobby", and you are done! It's that easy.
How do I add public networks? |
Login to your account, go to "Networks" in the side menu or click on "edit networks". You can then click on "add a network" or browse the current networks. Just type in the name of the network you want to add, and click "Add to my networks", and you will join the network. If a network does not exist, you can create a brand new network!
How do I add restricted networks? |
Login to your account, go to "Networks" in the side menu or click on "edit networks". You can then click on "add a network" or browse the current networks. Just type in the name of the network you want to add, and click "Add to my networks". You will need to provide an email address with a domain that is required by that network. If a network does not exist, you can request a brand new network!
How do I add a link for a hobby? |
If you go to a hobby's page, there is a link to "suggest a link." If you submit a link, we will review it and add it to the hobby's page if it has information that is useful for members interested in that hobby.
Will I get spam? |
We do not show your email address on our website, and we will not sell or distribute your email address.
Can I delete my account? |
Sorry, we can't delete accounts yet, but will try to add that feature in the future. If you want to remove your information from hobbyswap.org, we suggest removing yourself from any networks, removing all your friends, and editing your notification settings in your account settings. This way, no one can view your profile and you won't get any emails from us.
What is the Hobbyswap.org facebook application? |
The hobbyswap.org facebook application shows and updates your hobbyswap.org hobbies on your facebook page. The application shows your hobbyswap.org hobbies that you are learning, teaching and finding activity partners for right on your facebook profile. More features may be coming soon. The information on your profile is updated twice daily. You can find the application here or at http://apps.facebook.com/hobbyswap/.
